About Aniek Yaël
The Projects (AYP) was founded by me, Aniek Yaël. Hence, the name. Its creation was by no means straightforward. For a long time, I was focused on getting a degree, finding a “suitable job” and with that, getting somewhere in life — whatever that meant.
While, as a historian, I do enjoy the research field, I did not see myself sitting behind a desk in some cold office space, for five days a week. Whether it’s research, music or capturing life with my camera, I always felt the need to create, to bring something new, to add something to this world, to give something to other people.
Life is a journey, not a goal. Now is what we have, so I wish to enjoy it. Creating AYP represents my path, wherever it will lead me.

About Aniek Yael Projects
For a long time, the thought of having to fit a bunch of projects into a single mold kept me from doing what I love most: creating.
That’s how Aniek Yael Projects, or The Projects, came to be—born from a desire to create and from having too many ideas and passions that couldn’t fit within a single category.
The Projects are ever-evolving. They are not ready-made products or services; we shape them together. Through them, I hope to inspire others, contribute meaningfully to the lives of those around me, and bring a little happiness into the world.
What Defines My Work
What guides me in everything I do is fostering kindness, love, and real human connection. I try to show gratitude, embrace equity, and bring trust, integrity, and empathy into my work. I’m always reflecting and learning, but I put in the effort to create with purpose, keeping these values in mind.
Everyone has a story to tell, each person is unique, and we all question ourselves daily about everything we do, feel, and say, as well as how we act. Every day, we have a choice: Who are we going to be? Let’s remind each other to be the best version of ourselves, for ourselves; being in a good place enables us to be there for those around us.

How I got here
Initially, I thought building this website was beyond my comprehension; I never imagined it would be something I could master. I also never considered traveling to Bali alone, visiting Eritrea with family, or moving to Canada—yet, all of that happened. I didn’t picture myself earning a BA in History or an MSc in Political Science either; after all, I hadn’t gone to school for a long time and had no idea where I was headed. So, yes, expectations—including my own—weren’t that high.
By the time I turned eighteen, though, I decided to go back to school and get my diploma. Ten years later, I’m still proud of this accomplishment, though I wish my motivation back then—to prove people wrong and show I wasn’t a failure—had come from a different place.
I’m sharing this because getting those degrees didn’t make me believe in myself any more than before (which was such an anticlimax). Instead, I felt deflated, maybe even fooled, thinking this would lead to “becoming” something, whatever that meant.
It took time, but I eventually chose a different path. It’s not always easy—sometimes it’s really frustrating—but hey, that’s life. I get to feel, love, and experience life, and that, I’ll never regret. Along the way, I met the love of my life and found myself grounded in a life I’m grateful for, open to whatever comes next.

Lovely people, beings, and moments.

Some Places I’ve Traveled
I’ve seen so many beautiful, fascinating, and jaw-dropping places. They’ve made me go quiet, they’ve made me dance. I’ve traveled, I’ve lived abroad, and I’ve come home. The journey will always continue.
